- About Me -

August 16th, 1977...I was four years old. It was mid-afternoon and my mom was in the kitchen preparing dinner. I was sitting on the living room floor with crayons and a coloring book. I remember clearly that “Bewitched” was on the television. However, the show was suddenly interrupted. Light blue letters scrolled across the black screen and a voice announced “ELVIS IS DEAD, repeat: ELVIS IS DEAD.” My mother reacted loudly from the kitchen and started crying.
A couple hours later, my dad told me we were going to a place called Memphis for Elvis’ funeral. Within a few days, my family loaded into the station wagon, and off we went.
We squeezed through crowds near the gates of Graceland. I remember endless masses of people. The gates to the King’s house were closed and nobody could get up the driveway. People were crying everywhere. Of course, I had never seen anything like this. It was the first crowd I can remember, and it left an impression. I believe this spectacle was when I first realized the effect music had on others. I believe it was that day in which music permanently grabbed me, and never let go.
Throughout the years I played in a number of bands. After numerous attempts and not really getting anywhere, I decided it was time to go on my own for a while, as a musician, and more importantly, as a songwriter. I’ve always been more about the creative process, anyway.
So, I decided to start recording my music, myself, and somehow afforded myself the proper quality recording gear. Then, I researched my ass off, trialed and made countless errors, and found a thousand ways for music to sound bad.
Finally, after developing my own production techniques, and gaining a better understanding regarding the dynamics of recording and audio space, I found myself content, even happy, with the quality I was achieving. I began posting my songs (and videos) online, and as an artist I received the response I was looking for. I still do this, and this is where I draw much of my encouragement, dedication, and determination from.
I admit, sometimes I do miss performing live. However, I have gained far more time to pursue other projects that, for some reason, I didn’t know I’d want in my life. When I'm not making music, I spend my time learning as much as I can about current events, film/video making, screenwriting, art/painting, astronomy, world history, politics, physics, etc. I have endless interests, and that is why this website will not be solely dedicated to my music.
However, music will always come first in my life, as that is ultimately what my existence is all about.
There…now you know a few things about me.
